Post breakfast back scratching

March 15th 2014:

Post blizzard and freezing cold, finally some a nice, warm and sunny day (although its just today...tomorrow we're back to cold weather...sigh).

Woke up way later than I had planned today and Rocky was rather pleased when I finally decided to get out of bed and let him out. Of course, he only stepped onto the deck and immediately came back inside waiting for breakfast. He places food above peeing so I oblige.

Made him his breakfast of bland food, which he eagerly gobbled up in two seconds. Let him out for a bit until he was ready to come back in. After breakfast he went to go hang out on the enclosed carpeted porch and end up rolling around and groaning as he scratched his back and stretched all about. He seemed throughly confused as to why I found it so funny, until he laid belly up on his back for awhile, momentarily fell asleep, woke back up and flipped over to lay on his stomach again.

Spent the day studying and having this guy curled up underneath the table, annoyed with me for spending this nice day inside. He was rather unamused with the lack of attention or exercise that he seemed to be receiving.

After a bit of whining I decided to take him for a quick walk around the block. Boy does he have some pent up energy. He spent a good few minutes lunging at my car, trying to convince me to take him for a spin and hopefully end up at the dog park. But sadly, I simply could not afford too today. Instead we went for a walk, well I went for a walk and he went for a little jog and lope here and there.

His bowel movements were good again yay! Back to the house we go. After a bit more studying I decide to go to library but figured I'd let him release a little energy in the back yard first by playing fetch with him. He was bouncing around and chasing the ball rather pleased. He has this knack of running after the ball and pouncing on it, except he always overshoots his pounce so he ends up jumping over the ball, twists in the air, lands a few feet away and sprints back to only pounce on it again with both front paws and then pick it up with his mouth. It's got to be one of the quirkiest things I've seen dogs do.

Played fetch for awhile until it seemed he was more interested in chewing the tennis ball than fetching it, so I decided to go inside and he followed. Of course he dropped the ball in the yard so I had him go back outside and get it. He picked it up, sprinted back to me and somewhere in the process lost the ball again. Oh well, we'll find it tomorrow.

Left to go study for a few hours, saying bye to him is always so hard. Come back to an incredibly excited dog, bouncing around and yapping and jumping up to lick my face. So nice to come home to such a happy puppy. Let him out, but he didn't want anything to do with outside and he came back in before I even had time to shut the door. He wanted dinner as he should seeing as I was two hours late compared to his average dinner time. Made him dinner, he gobbled it up and then followed me around as I ate my pizza. We spent the rest of the night watching tv, me curled up in a corner and him sprawled out on the couch. Now he is sleeping on his bed, with some on and off snoring and lots of little paw twitches.
